Chance to sponsor a seat in theatre’s diamond year

THE Redgrave Theatre is launching a Buy A Seat campaign as part of the celebrations marking its sixtieth anniversary.

For a contribution of £300-£500, an Individual can have a plaque on a selected seat for three years. Contributors will also be given a certificate and will be invited to a special event behind the scenes at Clifton College.

Laura Gammage, director of development at Clifton College, said: “Whether you are honouring a loved one, marking a special moment, or simply showing your support for the arts, naming a seat is a meaningful way to become part of the theatre’s story.

“Your dedication will be seen by audiences for years to come and will help support tthe Redgrave’s artistic and community work”.

Funds raised will support capital improvements to preserve the venue, as well as funding scholarships for young people with a passion for the arts to join the school.

The theatre is now inviting applications for its  second Youth Theatre programme. Designed for young people aged seven to 14, the programme provides a space to explore creativity, build confidence, and develop performance skills.

Amy Iles, youth theatre programme leader, said: “Shaping the next generation of performers at such a historic theatre is very exciting. Our young participants are engaging brilliantly, and weʼre looking forward to another fantastic term ahead.”

Theatre Manager Sue Ellicott  said: “The Youth Theatre is a significant step in reaffirming our commitment to being a space for the community.

The Redgrave Theatre in Percival Road was originally known as the Clifton College theatre when it was built in 1966.It was officially opened by Bristol born actor Sir Michael Redgrave who had been a pupil at Clifton College. After his death in 1985 the theatre, which was one of the first purpose-built school theatres, in the country, was renamed in his honour.

Details of the seat scheme and the youth theatre are on the college website.
