Youth theatre launch

The Redgrave theatre, part of Clifton College, is to launch a theatre for young  people who are interested in the art of stagecraft. t

Redgrave Youth Theatre will be open to anyone aged between seven and fourteen years.

“It will be open to the general public not just Clifton College pupils and no auditions are required,” said Gemma Allan, marketing executive of the Redgrave Theatre.

“Our new theatre will offer a fun, supportive space where young people can build confidence, explore their creativity and develop performance skills under the guidance of experienced industry professionals” she said.

“The focus for the first term will be on building skills, confidence, and ensemble work without placing any undue pressure on participants. As the group grows and develops, we may look towards a more formalised performance piece in the future.’

The youth theatre will be launched in January at the start of the Redgrave Theatre’s sixtieth anniversary.

The theatre in Percival Road was opened in 1966 by actor and former Clifton College pupil Sir Michael Redgrave. The youth will theatre marks a significant step towards becoming a true space for the community.
