A VARIETY of entertainments will be staged in the heart of Clifton this month as part of a ‘Village Day’ aimed at boosting trade for local businesses.
“Clifton Village Day is the first major event in the area since the pedestrianisation of part of Princess Victoria Street was completed,” said a spokesperson for BID Clifton (Business Improvement District) which is organising the event.
“People will be able to eat and drink in the open air while being entertained at the same time. We hope there will be visitors from all over Bristol to see what the bars, the many independent shops and restaurants in Clifton Village have to offer.”
The Village Day event is on September 13 and will run all day.
Various restaurants are planning special activities including sherry pouring and paella cooking. Bars in the village will be staging live music
A duo known as the D-Day Dollies will be putting on three half-hour sessions of vintage-style music. Dancing to live music for people of all ages will be staged in Victoria Square from 3-5pm.
Clifton Rotary Club will be staging a Young Speakers’ Corner outside Clifton Library in Princess Victoria Street. Rotary members will also be offering free blood pressure tests to people.
A vintage bus will be running a free shuttle service throughout the day between Long Ashton Park and Ride and Clifton Village.
