Getting a taste of success

They  look forward to a successful run-in to the midpoint of the season before Christmas.  The final home match of 2023 will be at 14.30 on Saturday 16 December against local rivals Dings Crusaders.

The coaching staff are committed to bringing in younger players to  establish themselves as regulars  and integtate with more seasoned players.  Outstanding in recent games have been  Shay Sainsbury and Freddie Myatt who are part of a pack including longer standing players Charlie Bullimore, Ricky Cano and Henry Harper.

The club relies on the support of its members, spectators and businesses  with particular involvement of local Clifton businesses who sponsor matches, provide man of the match awards , advertise in match programmes and sponsor individual players.

Among committed player sponsors is Stephen Bullimore, of InStep Shoes, who is sponsoring popular second row Henry Harper.  Steve’s son Charlie is sponsored by Robin King Estate Agents.

Steve commented:  “Rugby is my passion and Clifton has been my base for over 40 years so, given the opportunity to sponsor a player at CRFC was an absolute must.

“National League 2 offers any keen supporter a chance to see an eclectic mix of young academy, ex professionals and the regular team players compete at the highest level.  It’s exciting, it’s ‘touch line viewing’ and there is always a warm welcome on match days with 14 homes games each season. Thoroughly recommend it and the viewings on my website via CRFC has been staggering.”

Highly popular with players has been the contribution of local restaurants in providing much valued dining options for man the match awards.  Clifton Sausage and Fishers Seafood Restaurant are now being joined by the Brunel Wine Bar.

Simon Quarrie, owner of the Clifton Sausage, added: “The Clifton Sausage has sponsored Clifton Rugby 1st XV Man of the Match for many years. Winners get a three course meal for two and we know that they really appreciate the prize and enjoy coming to our restaurant.

“It’s great to support our local team as we and they are a part of our local community. When we get a chance to visit Clifton Rugby on match days I’m always impressed by the friendly and fun atmosphere and we are always made very welcome. We regularly see club members in our restaurant and we really value the promotion of our business by the club.”
