Success at Redmaids’ High

Redmaids’ High School saw great success in A-levels and the International Baccalaureate this year.

Sixty eight per cent of A-level grades were achieved at A* or A, significantly higher than the national average of 28.7 per cent, with 88 per cent of grades achieved at A*-B, and 98 per cent  A*-C. 

For the IB, which saw the final cohort to attain this qualification at Redmaids’ High, the results were equally impressive. Eleven students istudied the IB,  gaining an average of 39 points (out of a total of 45) against a UK average of 35. The school is delighted to highlight that one of its students, Astrid, gained full marks and will now go on to study Modern European Languages and History at Durham University. 

A number of departments are celebrating very successful results, with students notably receiving 100% A*-A in art, computer science, economics, government and politics, music and photography. The modern languages department saw top grades in French and Spanish and all students studying Russian secured an A* grade. 

Mathematics, biology and chemistry A-level were the most popular courses. 86% of students studying further maths secured an A*-A grade. 

Students are moving on to a wide range of courses, including contour fashion, international human rights law, liberal arts in the USA, Russian and contemporary Chinese studies and history.

Martha is settled at the University of Maine on a sports and academic scholarship and Hannah has taken up her apprenticeship in early years education.

Alice intends to study design engineering at Imperial College and Sophie will study medicine at Bristol after first pursuing an art foundation. 

Director of sixth form, Dr Alice England, said  “I am incredibly proud of the students in this year group and their tremendous dedication and effort over the past two years.Results day has not just been about acknowledging their academic achievements, but more importantly celebrating the exciting new chapter ahead. They are more than ready to explore their next steps, and we are so proud to have been part of every one of their journeys. We know they will go on to achieve great things and wish them the very best.”
