Hard work pays off at Redmaids’ High

Year 11 students at Redmaids’ High School GDST had much to celebrate after receiving excellent GCSE results.

The school is delighted that 52 per cent of grades are 9 or 8, the equivalent of A* under the previous grading system, and 73 per cent are 9-7, the equivalent of A*-A, compared to the national average of 22 per cent.

The school enjoyed strong success across a breadth of departments; 80 per cent of students achieved grade 8/9 in French and Russian, with over 70 per cent of students in Art and PE achieving the same. The school saw continued strength in English, with over 60 per cent of students achieving the  highest grades, and excellent results in Biology and Physics,  where over 50 per cent of the cohort achieved 8 or 9.

Anna Gaskell, Head of Year 11, said: “This has been an exceptional year group, and we are immensely proud of all that they have accomplished.

“Their success is not only measured in academic achievement, but also in the way they have grown as individuals during their time with us. From the very beginning of their journey, we have placed a strong emphasis on pastoral care, ensuring that every pupil has been supported, encouraged, and equipped to thrive. The resilience and determination they have shown are a credit to them, and we are confident these qualities will serve them well in the years ahead.”

The school’s headteacher Paul Dwyer said: “These outcomes reflect excellent outcomes and success across the full spectrum of the curriculum, showcasing the breadth of talent and hard work among our students. ”

Redmaids’ High Senior School Open Morning is taking place on Saturday 4 October.
